A Timely Demise

So I am just going to put Free Your Mind Fridays to rest. I liked the idea, but it never caught on (not surprising since with like 5 people who actually read here, who was going to do it anyway?) and I find that it has become a crutch for not really blogging. Instead of writing about things as I find them, I table it all to FYMF, then forget about it, then make half-assed lists for FYMF and yet another week has ticked by with no real blogging actually happening. It was fun while it lasted, and there will certainly be many a day when you get nice random lists of stuff, but the official protocol is now dead. RIP FYMF.

Also getting the mercy kill: C25K and possibly my Facebook persona Alexis Well-Read. As for the running, I am still super into it, but find that following the set schedule has become a drag. Ironically I am a bit too fit for the suggested intervals, but not fit enough to just run. I am keeping at it, and promising to keep at it, but no longer under the guidance of C25K. On the upside I can now run in 1/4 mile intervals, so that is a major improvement. I think I am just going to aim for 30 minutes a day of something. It can be the treadmill, JustDance, WiiFit, Yoga...whatever, but I do need to do something outside of chasing the kids, cleaning house and running errands.

As for the FB thing, I have not kept up with it at all, I find that I do not use FB as my blogging interface so maybe I just need to give that up. I am not sure how all that will evolve, but clearly my current plan is not the solution I am looking for. The Fan page has been OK, and I still don't want to mix blog stuff with personal stuff, but this is not working out at all.

So there you go, it is time to purge all my 2010 stuff that just isn't going to fly. I feel a major blog overhaul coming on...

I've been contemplating shuttering my Wonderful Wednesdays for similar reasons...

@Ginger
I think that these kinds of things can be great development tools, but only if they draw a real audience, or give you a chance to showcase your best skills. In my case FYMF did neither of those things so I guess it needs to be done. I have personally decided that I just need to get doing "real writing" more often. I am not sure just what brand I hope to develop here, but I can't tease that out until I get cracking on production and see what happens.

FYMF will be missed but it wasn't what you were hoping for. I always enjoyed reading the random but like you said there will still be plenty of that on here, just not under a specific "topic".

I like the new header a lot. The URL link for my blog is the old one but I do have a link there to take you to the new one so fix it or not. Not that I've been writing very much myself lately. These holiday projects and festivities just suck it right outta ya!

Got your link corrected. Part of the overhaul is reassigning blogger accounts to the respective blogs and my reader has not translated well... I hear ya on the holiday stuff, I want to blog as a nice little bit of me time, but then again, sleep is great for that too!
